A. R. Rahman was reportedly approached by director Atlee to compose for the film.[58] Rahman subsequently declined the offer for reasons unknown, and Anirudh Ravichander was chosen to compose for the film, who would thus mark his debut as a solo composer in Bollywood, previously having composed a song for David and the background score of Jersey.[59] The music rights were bagged by T-Series for ₹36 crore.[60]
The track "Jawan Prevue Theme", featured in the two-minute promo video, was released on 10 July 2023.[61] It had rap written and performed by Raja Kumari, with Anirudh and BNiznik performing.[62]

Marketing:
The film's title, along with a glimpse video was released on 3 June 2022.[63] Later the film got postponed and a new release date was announced through a motion poster released on 6 May 2023.[64] A teaser trailer, titled "Jawan Prevue" was released on 10 July 2023.[65] It became the most watched Indian teaser in 24 hours with over 112 million views.[66] Later, the teaser was attached to the prints of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One in theatres.[67]
Release:
Jawan is scheduled for a theatrical release on 7 September 2023 in Hindi along with dubbed versions of Tamil and Telugu languages.[68] Earlier the film was scheduled to release on 2 June 2023. Later in May 2023, it was reported that film is delayed to August 2023.[69][70][71] The film was later reported to release on the original release date,[72] However, later it was confirmed that the film will release on 7 September 2023.[73] Red Giant Movies acquired the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu, while Sri Venkateswara Creations acquired the distribution rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.[74] The overseas theatrical rights were sold to Yash Raj Films.[75] Non-theatrical rights of the film were sold for ₹250 crore (US$31 million).[76]
